KEY COMPONENTS

CHARACTER - Spiritual Formation and Ministry Assessment (using "Spiritual Disciplines Handbook" by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun and "Charting a Bold Course" by Andrew Seidel)
a. Practice of spiritual disciplines
b. Peer Learning Cluster Interaction (including on-site exposure to a variety of Missional ministries followed by group debriefing)
c. Bi-Monthly (twice a month) one-to-one coaching
d. Identifying “best fit” in ministry using a variety of assessment tools and “in-service” feedback
- COMPREHENSION – Grounding in Biblical and Missiological Principles
Two Foundation for Ministry courses will be offered each year (fall/spring), facilitated by a combination of Ambrose professors and district leaders. The goal is to offer these modular courses via 2 delivery systems – live classroom instruction and online distance learning. These modules would be interactive, including input from in-the-field practitioners. Participants will need to complete a total of six Foundation for Ministry courses. Modules will include pre-course reading assignments and post-course written projects along with in-the-field practice of related ministry skills supervised by local church coaches.

These courses may be taken by anyone apart from the apprenticeship program.
- COMPETENCY –Guided Ministry Experience
Each participant will complete practical ministry assignments under the supervision of trained local church coach with written verification. These assignments will include hands-on ministry experience in 3 areas over the 3 year apprenticeship:
· Year One: Local church based ministry
· Year Two: Community based service
· Year Three: Multiplicative focused ministry which includes the equipping of other leaders
Participants will compile over a 3 year period a Personal Learning Profile, documenting all learning experiences completed during the Quest program. Those completing the program will receive the “Foundations for Ministry” Certificate. |
