The 5th “S” . . .
At Assembly 2008 in Ottawa a new focus was introduced to our family of Alliance churches– the 5th “S” (Sea to Sea). This means that evangelism and church planting all across Canada (from the Pacific to the Atlantic) have assumed their rightful place alongside our existing global 4 S’s – Silk Road, Caribbean Sun, Asian Spice and Desert Sand. The C&MA in Canada is going “glo-cal”, melding together our mission to reach people for Christ both locally and globally.
A Faith-Stretching Goal . . .
Our goal is for each Alliance church to multiply itself every 5 years. This represents a God-size challenge which will require focused prayer and bold, risk-taking faith. Is your church up for the challenge?
Multiplying . . .
What might multiplying look like for your church? How could your congregation increase its Missional impact on its community? Here are some possibilities:
- Launch a house church or cluster of house churches
- Start a satellite campus or several campuses
- Plant a daughter church
- Create a community-based ministry centre
- Partner in planting a new church in another district or overseas
Getting Started . . .
Where do we go from here?
- Mobilize your congregation into “Pray and Dream” units. Explore the possibilities;
- Take your leadership team on “Prayer Tours” to look with eyes of faith at your community and surrounding areas;
- Brainstorm with other Alliance leaders in your area about ways to partner in multiplying;
- Dialog with district staff to spark ideas.
