I lay awake worrying that the storm was damaging their delicate petals and stems—so new and fragile so early in the spring. Will there even be anything left of them when the clouds are spent and the sun breaks through?

Then, I would spend about 15-20 hours that week setting up for the coming Sunday, preparing the supplies for seven Sunday school classes. Often it seemed a Godot-esque routine with little value. How was all of the time I was spending on cutting, craft preparation, and gathering lesson-teaching props teaching and leading the kids towards Jesus’ love?

Who is in control? A question that can easily be dismissed, or for some quite easily answered with most assuredly, “God is!” But should we really think about it, at the depth of our soul do we find ourselves questioning “Is he?”

This fall when I was sharing with my Spiritual Director the challenges I was facing with the volume of work and expectations I was feeling she told me the following story… There was a man who met God one day. God asked him to take a wagon with three stones to the top of the mountain.
